Regional Updates and Policies

If a team is short players for a game, both teams can either play short sided or the team with more players can loan players to the other team. No team should ever play with more players than the other team, even if the other coach is willing. It is not fair to the kids. The kids would rather play (on the other team) than sit out, even if they don’t think that when you ask them to go to the other side. We should never play lop-sided games.

How We Make Up Teams and Deal with Requests

Updated Division Rules

Division Ball Size Players on Field Game Lengths
U5*-U6 3 4 5 minute quarters
U8 3 7 8 minute quarters
U10 4 9 25 minute halves*
U12 4 9 30 minute halves*
U14 5 11 35 minute Halves
U19 5 11 35 minute Halves

*U10-U12 have quarter breaks in the middle of the halves during natural stoppage of play.

•••

Never practice on a game field.

Please do not practice or scrimmage on any game fields. This is causing too much wear and tear on the grass. Please use the surrounding areas for practices. At Simpson Park, us the north side between the rows of trees or next to the basketball courts. At gilcher, use the west side of the parking lot.

AYSO teams should have no more than one practice per week. In the event you have 2 games in 1 week, we recomend not having a practice that week. Practices can start up to 2 weeks prior to season start, not before (except for AYSO sponsored clinics).

•••

Player with hard cast are not allowed to play in games, this is a national mandate.

•••

No one should ever be standing on the goal line or near the goals during a game. Please make sure to explain this to the parents. if there child is in goal, they need to stay

•••

U10-U19 coaches have to stay off the field during games
Coaches are not to be on the field if there is a referee present. If there is no referee, the coaches can either takes turns reffing halves or each coach can ref half the field lengthwise for the entire game. Coaches are not to coach while reffing (except during breaks), have an assistant coach or parent handle coaching during the game.

•••

U6 Coaches,
Parents need to be at least 3 feet off the side line and no parents or coaches can be near the goal line (ends of field) or goal during play.

•••

Never Question Referee Calls
Please make sure the referees are treated with respect. Make sure no calls are questioned during the game, in front of the kids. Please make sure the parent understand this, they should never question a referee call during a game. Any parents with strong objections should be urged to sign up to be a referee. Our referees are new, they are volunteers and mistakes will happen.

•••

Each team should try to recruit a parent to be a team referee.
If every team has at least one parent ref half the games, we should be covered for most of the games. Please have them contact John Fortin (586-786-0833) for a Training Video and Referee t-shirt.

•••

If a player drops from your team, contact Paul Thompson and he can check the waiting list to find another player. You can not add a player yourself to the team, this has to go through Paul.

•••

Please locate an open area at a school or church. We are working on official locations, let use know if you have any ideas. A reminder, no dogs should be on any fields during soccer. Make sure to clean up after practice!

Free substitution is only allowed in UU19.
