The event will be a full day of activities, including a kid’s carnival, various live music performances and raffle drawings. It takes a community to cure childhood cancer. The St. Baldrick’s Foundation, a volunteer-driven charity dedicated to raising money for childhood cancer research, will host one of its signature head-shaving events in the Village of Romeo on Saturday, March 10, 2012, where more than 400 will shave their heads in solidarity with kids with cancer and raise money for life-saving children’s cancer research.
Why all the shaved heads? Worldwide, more than 160,000 children are diagnosed with cancer each year, and it remains the leading cause of death by disease among children in the United States. With only 4 percent of all federal cancer research funding dedicated to pediatric cancer research, St. Baldrick’s Foundation grant funds are critical to continue the battle against this devastating disease.
Go ahead – throw vanity out the window. We dare you to experience the brilliance of being bald while raising funds for life-saving research. Your fundraising efforts will raise much-needed research support and your bald head will be a display of solidarity with kids who have cancer – most of whom don't get to choose how to style their hair today. Give them the best chance for a cure!
Register early to guarantee a scheduled time slot for your shaving!
